Quantum Optical System
Leupold optical engineers and scientists, mechanical engineers and product line managers have developed the Quantum Optical System for Leupolds newest riflescopes, including the VX-1, VX-2, VX-R and VX-6. By repositioning optical elements, employing new coatings and importantly, leaving key, time-tested mechanical aspects of the Vari-X system untouched, significant performance gains have been achieved. The VX-2 has up to 94% light transmission.
Index Matched Lens System
A Leupold® exclusive, this system has nearly perfected Leupolds already impeccable light management. Leupold engineers specify different coating materials for each lens surface in the riflescope, based on the lens index of refraction, placement and function, layering each coating to eliminate reflections and maximize light transmission. The result is unparalleled brightness and extremely sharp resolution across the entire visual field.
DiamondCoat

2nd Generation Argon/Krypton Waterproofing
Select models like the VX-2 feature Leupolds exclusive, proprietary Argon/Krypton gas blend. Its advantages are two fold: it nearly eliminates the effects of thermal shock, and the Argon/Krypton molecules are significantly larger than nitrogen molecules, reducing the diffusion of gases sealed inside your scope even more than Leupolds proven nitrogen technology already does.
Generous Eyebox
The generous eyebox makes it faster and easier to get your eye behind the riflescope and achieve a full, clear sight picture. Setting up for longer shots you’ll appreciate the flexibility it affords, and in close up big game or dangerous game situations the quick target acquisition will be the difference maker. Federal firearms laws prevents shipping firearms directly to individuals without a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL), however we can ship them to an FFL Dealer in your area.
To purchase a firearm and have it shipped, you must complete the following steps listed below before we can process your order and ensure a trouble free transaction.
- Complete your firearm purchases by clicking the "Add to cart" button under the product(s) of your choice and completing the checkout process including making your payment.
- Find an FFL dealer near you that will accept the transfer of the firearm for you. This can be your local Gun Shop, Pawn Shop, Gun Range or any other location that holds a current FFL and will help you your transfer.
- Contact your FFL dealer and tell them you would like to transfer a firearm from South Mountain Firearms. This transfer and any associated fees are between you and the FFL doing the transfer.
- Have your licensed FFL dealer mail a signed copy of their FFL to:

- We will send an email with the tracking number when the firearm is shipped.
- Once your FFL/dealer receives your firearms, they will perform your background check. You will then complete all the necessary paperwork and pick up firearm.
Note: Ammunition and Firearms must be purchased separately, in two separate orders. Also, includes your name and order number on any correspondence you send to South Mountain Firearms.

This Leupold Quick Release Weaver Style Mount (49853) use an adjustable double-lever mechanism to lock the rings securely into the base. Just simply rotate the levers to achieve a lock.
The spring-loaded levers can be “parked” by pulling each lever out, disengaging it from the locking screw. This allows the user to adjust the levers to the desired position. Then, just release the levers back into the spring. It is engineered to retrofit any existing cross-slot base, thus converting existing mount bases into a quick-detach system.
